On a beautiful day last week, Dr. Hossam Badrawi celebrated the 50th anniversary of the graduation of the 74th batch of Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, to which Dr. Hossam belongs, with affection, love and beautiful memories.

The celebration was attended by 126 doctors from all over the world, specially for this celebration, at the family home.

From America to Greece, from Amman to Jordan, from Palestine to France, from the north of Egypt to its south, everyone gathered with great happiness to meet a great and distinguished batch.

Some of the batch members have an artistic sense and displayed their paintings in a simple exhibition (Ahmed Al-Sharqawi, Shahira Shukry and Hossam Badrawi).

Dr. Hossam invited some of the young people of Abhar Misr, whom he sponsors through the Education First Foundation and Credit Agricole Bank, to present cheerful artistic segments.
The celebration was missed by those dear colleagues who the batch lost due to their different circumstances, but they were with us with their memories and love.
A salute to the 74th batch who, after fifty years, meet and celebrate friendships that have lasted and affection that has lived through time

Awakening from Hibernation

By
Hossam Badrawi
Last week I wrote about the civilizational hibernation of nations and I received dozens of reactions about this definition and the metaphor between it and the physiological reality of living beings that enter a deep hibernation for generations and years and how the Egyptian nation emerged from its hibernation.

Hibernation is often a means of survival during periods when life is difficult.

During hibernation, the central nervous system is in a state of decreased activity or anti-life activity and awakening usually begins with signals from the minds of the nation.

The gradual return to consciousness occurs when the brain and nervous system regain their consciousness Complete, and then living beings return to their natural activity, meaning that awakening begins with the mind of nations, including their political leaders, intellectuals, civil society, and soft power. The responsibility is shared, but it remains that the brain of the nation is the one that must sense, take the initiative, and take the initiative to awaken. “Civilizational hibernation is a period of stagnation or decline in cultural and scientific creativity, economic power, and global influence.” In order for a nation to awaken from this slumber, it needs a comprehensive renaissance that depends on a set of factors. Nations need leaders who have a clear vision for the future, the courage to make difficult decisions, and a will for reform and leadership that is not only political, but also includes thinkers and innovators, as I said. The awakening of nations requires a comprehensive civilizational project that begins from within and responds to contemporary challenges. When a balance is achieved between authenticity and modernity, between spiritual values and material innovation, the nation can regain its status and contribute to building human civilization.

A group of young people dreaming of tomorrow and a new group of promising young people from the Future Movement gathered around me and asked me questions about the dangers facing Egypt at this stage of its present.

They referred to my last article and how to emerge from the slumber of the Egyptian and Arab nation.

One of them said: The most important danger facing Egypt now is the Zionist tide that we imagine is coming to Egypt. They do not hide this, but rather announce it on their maps.

Another young woman responded by saying: Guys, the real danger is from within more than from without. The danger is the change in the identity of society and disbelief in democracy and belief in the philosophy of obedience rather than interaction and expressing an opinion.

One of the young men jumped in and said, “Frankly, I am afraid of the chaos that will destroy everything if the rope of freedoms that we call for is left without a deterrent and effective law that everyone respects and applies without selectivity!!”

The intelligent, educated young woman said: “The question, Dr. Hossam, is, are we a strong country to be able to face all these challenges and wake up from the cultural slumber that you referred to?”

I looked at them, understanding their fears and recognizing their anxiety, and said calmly: “Everything you mentioned are real challenges.”

The water challenge from the south is essential and is intertwined with intelligence agencies from major countries.. The challenge of imposing sectarian differences is dangerous. The Syrian model is in people’s minds, and yes I agree with you that the civilizational challenge is between us and Israel in the long term..

I commend those who mentioned the internal cultural, emotional and economic challenges, but the most important question in all that you mentioned is: Are we a strong country to confront all of this?!

The answer is, in summary, yes.

The answer in detail is as follows:
Egypt, my friends, possesses a human wealth, large in number and value, young in age, as 65% of its population is under 40 years old.. This is a tremendous wealth capable of learning, training, acquiring knowledge and creating opportunities. This human wealth is a gift from God if we prepare it well, which is what we can do and implement. Education and health care are the way to make this wealth the main strength of the country and the first pillar of development in it. Building a self-confident Egyptian character, proud of its past and present, and with hope for its future is in our hands, and one decade can change a lot..

This is Egypt’s latent strength, and Egypt’s hope to face all challenges and use the opportunities and wealth that God has given us.

The same smart girl said: Do we have wealth???

I smiled and said: Oh, come on, let me count some of it for you.

We have the largest historical stock of world civilization, and all we have to do is show it and benefit from it touristically to generate unprecedented economic wealth.

We have the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean to the north, and the unparalleled beaches of the Red Sea to the east, and the largest freshwater lake to the south.

We have the most important waterway on the globe, the Suez Canal, which connects the north to the south and the east to the west, dug by our ancestors with their blood. This waterway, which supports Egypt’s brilliant geographical location, could be the main development corridor in the country.

Egypt has a wealth of gas under its land and in the depths of its seas that may be one of the entrances to our future economy with limits that we have never reached before.

Egypt has mineral wealth in its lands, which is being discovered now and we did not know about its existence before.

Egypt has the largest commercial market in the Middle East. Yes, the Egyptian market is a force that attracts investment and opens up horizons..

Egypt has bright sun most of the year and known wind sources and can produce clean energy that is sufficient for it and for Europe as well.

Egypt has a soft power of art, culture and knowledge. We must reopen the horizons for its launch and creativity once again. Egypt’s soft power was the reason for its influence on those around it and it still has the same potential if we lift the restrictions on it and remove the obstacles in front of it.

Egypt has a civilizational reserve in its people and latent capabilities in its youth and elders that do not need anything to launch except freedom and respect for the law,

and it needs to remove the rust from it through education, culture and arts..

Egypt is certainly strong, young people, and it is possible to be stronger and more stable with conscious management and hard work from everyone.. By the way, my words are not slogans, but scientific words with a reference and methodology and it is possible to happen. Egypt is strong and will become stronger, and we must work together to achieve that.. A young man from the audience said: What is the way to achieve that?

I said: Sustaining the implementation of plans that must be announced, documented and binding, and which arise through the participation of the wisdom of experience, the energy of youth.. and conscious leadership, and this can be achieved by listening to different opinions and presenting alternatives from experts.. It is possible to achieve that by believing that creativity and innovation only happen within a framework of freedom and not chaos.

The educated young woman said: What is the basis for all of that?

I said: You will be surprised by what I say, it is the political system of government. Politics is the gateway to achieving the happiness of peoples and empowering them with their potential and increasing the strength of the country, therefore the modern civil state is the foundation and pillar of all that. I remind you of Ibn Rushd’s saying “Trading in religions is the flourishing trade in societies where ignorance is widespread. If you want to control an ignorant person, you only have to cover every falsehood with a religious cover or spread fear among the people.” I know the difficulty of implementing democracy in the shadow of poverty and ignorance, and this is Egypt’s dilemma that we must work together to pass through, as Egypt’s strength and weakness lie in its human structure. Egypt’s strength lies in the freedom of its citizens, and its weakness lies in suppressing freedoms or not adhering to the rules of the law that regulate these freedoms. We must adhere to the philosophy of the constitution because it is the document and reference that must govern our dialogue.

“We are now writing a constitution that completes the building of a modern democratic state, with a civil government”… The political system is based on

1- Political and party pluralism

2- The peaceful transfer of power

3- Separation of powers and balance between them

4- The correlation between responsibility and power

5- Respect for human rights and freedoms, as stated in the constitution

This is the introduction to the constitution and its fifth article, which was approved by the Egyptian people by an overwhelming majority in 2014. No amendments were made to this introduction or to Article Five in 2019.

There are articles in the constitution that we must preserve, and articles that have not been implemented, and there must be reasons for that. I believe that we must put them within the framework of implementation, such as decentralization, and most of what pertains to the separation of powers and the balance between them, and the method of implementing justice, respecting freedoms, and respecting citizens’ rights.

We must beware of society from some who see, perhaps with good intentions, but wrongly, that stability and the safety of society come through stagnation, lack of change, and avoiding opening the doors of pluralism.

It is easier for those who do not have the ability to convince others to seek a single thought, impose obedience, and narrow choices.

For Egypt to be strong in facing external challenges, it must be strong from within, and my faith and hope will remain in building the capabilities of its youth and children and benefiting from the experience of its elders.

At the invitation of Dr. Basil Adel, head of the Awareness Party, and under the title “Egypt’s Political Future”, Dr. Hossam Badrawi gave a political lecture on the coming political future yesterday, Monday, December 23, 2024, at the headquarters of the Awareness Party in the Fifth Settlement. Dr. Basil Aad welcomed Dr. Badrawi and praised his honorable political career and national positions that history will remember. Dr. Basil Adel, head of the party, confirmed that although the party is 21 days old, meaning about 3 weeks ago, many activities have been implemented, issues have been engaged in, and research papers have been presented on pressing issues. Adel announced during the meeting that the party is preparing for the inauguration celebration next January at Abdeen Palace in the presence of dignitaries, noting that they launched a door-to-door campaign and visited Alexandria and Port Said, and will head to Fayoum Governorate on Friday for a popular meeting. Dr. Basil Adel added that they launched the membership form and welcome the joining of youth and women to build a different political experience under the name of social liberal parties, seeking to have a number of figures and parties join to gain the respect of the state and the support of a broad base of the masses. Dr. Badrawi’s speech came as follows: –
At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Badrawi thanked Dr. Basil Adel and the Awareness Party for hosting him, then praised Dr. Basil Adel’s political efforts.
Dr. Badrawi then referred to the 21 days that have passed since the establishment of the Awareness Party, likening this period in embryology to the same period it takes for the heart and genes of the fetus to be completed.
Dr. Badrawi then stressed that the party that is formed must proceed on two sides, one of which is an academic side, which is the easy side, and the other is a public side, which is the difficult part, since communicating with the public requires crossing many barriers, in addition to the fact that the electoral system does not allow for obtaining the full opportunity that benefits the party, due to the difficulty of reaching those who will give you their votes, in addition to the large size of the constituencies.
He then added that what is happening around us in the region poses a great danger that cannot be ignored, and he pointed out that Egypt is the grand prize after all of that, then he asked, can Egypt ward off this danger? He answered, yes, definitely, but this requires us to be strong from within first, and a strong state from within is not a security state, but a civil state that allows the participation of civil society and allows the emergence of political leaders. We know that democracy may not bring the best elements as a result of ignorance and poverty that gives money power, but the wise constitutional system has set controls for this within the framework of the public’s expression and participation at the local level when applying decentralization and at the level of the two chambers of parliament when the Senate has the function of sustaining development and controlling performance with a different composition from the other chamber, as each chamber has a function and a role, but unfortunately in the last elections they are two sides of the same role. He stressed the illogicality of political work if society is ignored and not involved under the pretext that it is an ignorant society that will not be able to choose. This matter is controlled by opening decentralized channels that allow people to express themselves and their desires, then from these channels to the House of Representatives, which formulates it, crystallizes it, and places it in a legislative mold, and from there to the Senate, which controls its political framework, stressing that institutional work is what controls political life. Dr. Badrawi then moved to another aspect that achieves Egypt’s internal strength, which is the issue of separation of powers, expressing that if the executive authority continues to dominate the rest of the authorities, we will remain without a democratic system of government, expressing that despite his belief in the availability of good intentions, the absolute system of government ultimately leads to corruption, as no system will be upright without accountability. We do not want chaos, revolutions, or coups, but what we want is reform from within. Dr. Badrawi added that since 1952, Egypt has been governed by a presidential system of government, and presidential rule can also be democratic, but presidential rule without the transfer of power turns over time into dictatorial rule…. This is what the constitution stipulates.

Dr. Badrawi then explained that we all belong to the liberal social movement, as we all believe in freedom of economic movement, but we also have strict rules regarding citizens’ rights, most notably education, health, housing, and social security.

What makes us influential is finding the minimum level of consensus that achieves solidarity and cohesion among us as parties.

In conclusion, Dr. Badrawi urged the need to start implementing decentralization, which will take time to stabilize, the need for separation of powers, and the need for us all to cooperate in the next stage in order to form a bloc that will produce no less than 150 opposition votes in the next House of Representatives, as he believes that it is in the interest of any ruling regime to have constructive opposition within the regime.
Dr. Badrawi ended his speech amidst applause and support from the attendees, then the door was opened for dialogue to the attendees who asked many questions on all political files, which Dr. Badrawi welcomed and answered, and the organization remained honorable on the part of the organizers of the Awareness Party. The symposium, which was attended by a number of political leaders, former representatives, and party bases from various currents, ended. The symposium was attended by former representative Rajab Hamida, former representative Dr. Magdy Morshed, Vice President of the Conference Party, former representative John Talat, former representative Margaret Azar, members of the founding committee of the Awareness Party, Dr. Muhammad Abu Jabal Abu, Head of Arab Affairs at the Iraqi Embassy, Mr. Hussein Hadi, Representative of the Iraqi Embassy, and a number of party and youth leaders from various political currents and leaders of the Awareness Party. Awareness Party statement on yesterday’s meeting

The difference between sleep and hibernation lies in the physiological nature, duration, and vital goals of each. Sleep is defined as a daily, periodic state that a living organism enters to restore physical and mental activity.

Sleep occurs regularly and automatically, and includes multiple stages (light sleep, deep sleep, and rapid eye movement sleep).

As for hibernation, it is a long-term state of decreased activity that the organism enters in harsh environmental conditions such as cold or food shortages that may last for weeks or months, adapting to harsh environmental conditions.

In the future, this may happen voluntarily, as in science fiction films, or as it may have happened in the past in myths and stories such as the People of the Cave and others.

That is, sleep is a necessary daily process to regulate the functions of the body and brain, while hibernation is a survival strategy used by some living organisms to adapt to harsh environments

that requires saving energy for long periods..

Sleep is considered a change in the state of consciousness and not a loss of it, as in the case of Anesthesia or coma. We spend about a third of our lives asleep, and many complex activities occur during sleep at the level of the brain and body in general. Some vital functions are more active during sleep, and in the language of the mobile phone that humans invented, it is as if it is a stage that the human body needs to charge its battery and energies, and during which some functions are downloaded and digital programs are renewed in the brain, liver, tissues, cells, etc.

In hibernation, all vital functions that stagnate without renewal or activity reside.

All of this happens to individuals, and science monitors it, and the question here is can this happen to groups, peoples, and nations?

A nation’s failure to realize an imminent danger despite its clarity and everyone’s recognition of it can be described in a metaphorical concept close to “collective sleep”.

In this context, collective sleep does not refer to a biological or physiological state, but to a collective mental state of negligence or shared disregard for a clear and dangerous fact, but for a period of time in which the nation returns to wakefulness. But if the period is prolonged and extended, then describing it as hibernation may be closer to the truth.

The characteristics that make this description appropriate are collective indifference. Just as sleepers sink into a state of unconsciousness of the outside world, a nation can sink into a state of collective oblivion towards danger.

Sleep usually comes in comfortable conditions, and the metaphorical “collective sleep” may also result from a false sense of security or reliance on others to bear responsibility.

In “collective sleep,” a nation may be under the influence of psychological, political, or media pressures that make it unable to face reality, despite its individuals’ awareness of the danger on an individual level.

Mass hypnosis can also put people in a state of shared belief in a certain reality. A nation may be exposed to influences that make it convince itself that things are under control or that the danger is far away.

There are rational and scientific reasons for the metaphorical “collective sleep,” including the deliberate disregard for dangers. Individuals or institutions may avoid facing the painful reality because acknowledging it requires painful changes or strenuous efforts, the most important of which are: Lack of conscious leadership because the absence of wise leadership capable of directing the nation towards recognizing and addressing risks is one of the foundations of success because leadership is the mind of the nation.

The media or misleading propaganda contributes to diverting attention from real dangers and preoccupying people with trivial matters. Science says that when crises become recurring, people may get used to them and become indifferent to their risks.

What I am describing here is closer to slumber than sleep, as the literary and philosophical description of the state of collective negligence is considered an element of “civilizational hibernation”, where the nation is in a state of intellectual and emotional stagnation, despite living amidst clear signs of deterioration or danger. This concept is linked to the loss of the collective will to bring about change or resistance, which leads to disastrous results if this state is not broken.

A nation that lives in collective slumber does not open its eyes despite repeated warning cries, and does not rise up despite the shaking of the ground under its feet.

Civilizational hibernation is a profound concept linked to the state of stagnation and decline that afflicts a society or nation, leading to the disruption of its intellectual and creative capabilities, and the decline of its role in global influence or achieving progress. This hibernation can be the result of multiple factors, some internal and some external, and in all cases it is considered a “collective civilizational sleep” in which collective awareness of the responsibilities of renaissance and the dangers of collapse is absent.

There are dimensions to civilizational hibernation, the most important of which is the intellectual dimension with the absence of intellectual innovation and the prevalence of tradition or intellectual stagnation.
The most powerful of these is the weakness of educational and scientific research institutions, which limits the production of knowledge.

This is accompanied by the spread of superstition and unscientific concepts that weaken critical thinking.

Social cohesion is weakened by class or sectarian conflicts and the spread of a culture of surrender and submission instead of a culture of change and responsibility and the decline of positive values such as teamwork and creativity.

There is a political dimension to civilizational hibernation, which is the tyranny of ruling regimes and the marginalization of the role of peoples in decision-making and the absence of strategic plans and future visions among leaders with a focus on individual or factional interests at the expense of public interests.

My words do not ignore the economic dimension, which is gradually being made a way of life, which is reliance on a consumerist economic model instead of production and creativity. In the absence of economic justice, this leads to increasing poverty and inequality. The weakness of economic independence, excessive dependence on external powers and debts are the reason for nations to remain in a permanent cultural slumber. I add with faith that the deterioration of cultural identity due to cultural alienation or intellectual isolation and the weak role of arts and literature in expressing societal issues, and the spread of triviality and the culture of entertainment at the expense of purposeful culture is a common pattern for nations to remain in a deep slumber.

The reasons for cultural hibernation can be overcome, in my view, because many of them are internal reasons that are understood by those who have not yet slept and have resisted hibernation.

The features of a nation in a state of cultural hibernation are summarized in the absence of major goals, as there is no clear vision for the future or national goals that motivate peoples to work together.

The nation loses its ability to influence global and regional issues or leadership in scientific and cultural fields.

I add that preoccupation with the past and focusing on past achievements without working to build the present and future.

When interaction with variables weakens and the nation becomes unable to adapt to technological, economic or political changes, cultural hibernation is established.

One of the results of cultural hibernation is the loss of international status and the nation’s decline on the global stage, becoming vulnerable to hegemony or exploitation.

One of the results of cultural hibernation is the continuation of internal decline, as social, economic and political crises worsen, and there is a loss of confidence in the future and the spread of frustration and despair among individuals, which deepens stagnation.

I am a man of initiative and optimism by nature, mind and experience, and I know that the Egyptian nation, from within the state of Arab hibernation, is qualified To wake everyone up, how can the nation wake up?

There are historical examples of cultural hibernation, such as Europe in the Middle Ages, which suffered from a state of scientific and intellectual stagnation due to the control of the Church and its intellectual stagnation, but it emerged from this hibernation with the Renaissance, which revived philosophy, science, and the arts and emerged from the tyranny of absolute rule.

Likewise, the Islamic world entered into ages of decline after a golden age of Islamic civilization, in which nations declined due to political corruption, internal conflicts, and sectarian wars, and there are still those who call for the caliphate, which in our era is a single-authority system without circulation in the name of God.

Japan suffered from long isolation and economic and intellectual decline, but it quickly rose from its hibernation after adopting reform policies in the Meiji era (1868).

Cultural hibernation is not an inevitable fate; rather, it is a stage that can be overcome with awareness, will, and hard work.

Awakening from hibernation begins with a deep understanding of the causes, identifying weaknesses, and then mobilizing individual and collective energies to build a new future. Every nation has the ingredients for renaissance if it is able to get rid of its negligence and realize that change begins from within before it is imposed from without. I see Egypt as qualified and capable, with its youth, greatness, history and present, to lead a reawakening for the entire Middle East, and even Africa. We must not underestimate the capabilities of our children and youth. Let us pave the way for them and not stand as an obstacle to their creativity by suppressing their freedoms. Freedom and justice within the framework of a non-selective law is the way.

At the invitation of Dr. Mounir Hanna and the Christian-Islamic Center for Understanding and Partnership in cooperation with the Bridges Cultural Center, Dr. Hossam Badrawi gave an interesting lecture today, Friday, December 13, 2024, at the All Saints Cathedral in Zamalek, entitled “Egypt in My Mind.” The lecture was attended by a group of educated youth and prominent figures in society. Dr. Badrawi began his lecture with an interesting presentation of the cycles of development since the beginning of the universe and the time it took, and from there to the civilizational development since man became capable of imagination. This imagination, which Dr. Badrawi considers to be the beginning of human development, and how the cycle of civilization that used to take thousands of years has now become less than three years, stressing the need to realize the amazing speed that takes us towards the future. Then, Dr. Badrawi asked the attendees about how they see Egypt and listened to their answers attentively. Then, Dr. Badrawi stated that Egypt in the past was considered by some to represent soft power from artists, writers, and intellectuals, and some see it from the perspective of greatness from the pharaohs in different eras, the pyramids, and history. Some will say without thinking, the mother of the world, because it is a beacon of knowledge that illuminated the entire world. Everyone sees it from different angles, an image that calls for pride that we belong to this country. Today, Egypt is in people’s minds negative, weak, helpless, and hopeless, and everyone wants to change it to be in the position it deserves. Then, from Egypt of the past and the present, Dr. Badrawi moved to Egypt of the future, stressing that Egypt’s future is in our hands, and Egypt can be a great country with merit. Egypt’s future will be affected by the future of the world. Will our choice be to participate in making this future, or will we be mere spectators? Then, Dr. Badrawi answered that those who do not have dreams and imagination will not be able to make the future, explaining that dreams have no limits and differ from feasibility studies. We should not listen to those who say, “Dream within the limits of what can be achieved.” Rather, dream as you wish without restrictions, as dreams are the first step to change. Then, Dr. Badrawi expressed that Egypt has many riches that only need efficiency in management, and the most important of these riches are Egypt’s youth. Egypt has 60% youth, and this is Egypt’s greatest wealth. If these youth are well prepared, they will… They can revive Egypt and create a new future that suits it. What we need today is greater efficiency in managing the state, efficiency that should not be compromised, choosing the best, periodically renewing blood, respecting science and scientists, and raising the ceiling of dreams. We need boldness in thinking, sustainability in application, setting priorities and announcing them, and accountability for spending, as Egypt is a great country and deserves it. Dr. Badrawi concluded his lecture, which was more than wonderful, with applause and approval from all the attendees who came to him to sign his book, Egypt in My Mind, and exchange memorial photos with him after the end of the discussion session in which they discussed all aspects of the current situation in Egypt, which Dr. Badrawi listened to and answered all of them. Dr. Badrawi was accompanied on the platform by Dr. Mounir Hanna, who gave Dr. Badrawi an interesting and distinctive presentation, and Counselor Adly Hussein, former Governor of Qalyubia, who entertained us with his interventions and narration of the situations he faced during his work as governor.

Hossam Badrawy writes: Egypt’s Political Future Vision:
Introduced by Dr. Hossam Badrawy, Vision 2030 Advisor for National Dialogue, to the Political Committee.
The Egypt Vision 2030 document did not address the political aspect of managing the country, nor did it set a future strategy or timing for it. I believe, from my experience, that the national dialogue is a political dialogue of the first degree, so it is necessary to have the will to review the articles of the constitution and adhere to its philosophy, because it is the reference document that should govern our dialogue.
The Egyptian army saved the country from a fascist rule under a religious cloak that would have been imposed on the necks and minds of Egyptians.
A sustainable path to development in Egypt:
The current mission of the government is to establish a sustainable path for development in great Egypt, not depending on an individual, but on a sustainable system based on the transfer of power by the free will of voters, and respecting the balance of power within Egyptian society.
Perhaps the greatest concern of the citizen now is focused on the effectiveness of the government, i.e. the ability of the regime to achieve and respond to the demands of the citizen, regardless of the ideological idea adopted by any regime.
Achieving the highest effectiveness of governance requires the most competent to reach the seats of government through a system that enables this, and is also linked to the existence of an independent oversight and accountability system for the executive authority, and setting time periods for governance to ensure renewal in thought and vitality of performance.
Politically, the focus must be on the following elements:
Effective governance.
Competence of the rulers.
Independent oversight and accountability from the executive authority.
An independent and effective justice system (the real revolution must start here).
An education and culture system that enables citizens to build their capabilities to choose the best.
Commitment to implementing the philosophy and articles of the constitution, and providing citizens’ rights.
Vision for Egypt’s political future:
In our vision for a political future that ensures sustainable development, we seek initiatives that achieve our dreams of a modern civil republic that achieves a balance between real forces on the ground.
Initiatives that do not deprive the country of its human potential or its effective national institutions, and give freedom its place and respect by controlling the accomplished justice that prevents chaos or selective manipulation of the law.
The people should be given the freedom to choose and choose their representatives in parliament well, while the armed forces should play their role in protecting Egypt’s independence from any aggression, and preserving the people and the constitution when needed.
The Egyptian armed forces should not be politically placed in front of the responsibility of the development challenge.
The armed forces should not become responsible before the people for the political or economic situation, and we must preserve its role in preserving Egypt’s independence against any aggression, and in protecting the people and the constitution when needed.
Rules of the civil state:
Therefore, a new formula must be found that respects the balance of power but does not waste the rules of the civil state, and this is what all stakeholders in society should strive for, and write about it without sensitivity or fear.
We believe that the presidential system of government, in which the elected president assumes broad powers of government, is the ideal system for Egypt, and it has been the political reality since 1952, although we claim otherwise.
But this system leads to tyranny of power unless the term is limited to two terms at most, not exceeding twelve years, which is what the constitution emphasizes, and this is a constitutional choice that cannot be amended by any ruling authority in favor of its survival.
We must maintain the sustainability of governance in the country and its ability without revolutions, which will require changing the form of the next parliament to restore society’s confidence in its ability to hold the executive authority accountable within a framework that builds and does not destroy.
The best guarantee for the sustainability of the state’s security is the belief that this only happens through a political life in which there is freedom within the framework of the law
