Human rights between religion and modernity

The educated young man asked me about human rights and the contradiction between Islam and these rights, given that Islamic countries historically practice continuous violations of the rights of citizens.

I told him: There is no contradiction between Islam, which I know with my mind and heart, and human rights, but there is a contradiction between the behavior of Muslims, their sheikhs, their rulers, and these rights.

He said: Give me examples.

I said: Let us take the right of man to enjoy life, as Islam gives man supreme rights and does not deprive him of his right to life, but rather asks him to enjoy the good things and advantages of life. He is commanded to strive, work, and enjoy what he earns, and commands him with his right of justice, freedom and dignity, so the Qur’an says: “O people, eat of what is lawful and good on earth, and do not follow wrongdoing.”

He says: «O ye who believe! Spend of the good things which brought us out and (legally) earned you from the earth or malignant Timmwa of it, and ye are spending Bakhve but Ngamadoa it and know that God is rich Hamid».

And he says: “O Children of Adam, wear your adornment at every mosque, and eat and drink, and do not be extravagant, for he does not love the evil one.”

And he says: “O you who believe, do not forbid the good things that God has made lawful for you, and do not transgress, for God does not love God.”

Therefore, Islam enjoins the right to life, and it is one of the most beautiful things that it brought, because man was not accustomed to enjoining this right from any religion before him.

He said: Increase the rights that comply with the International Covenant on Human Rights.

I said: Take the right of man to choose, including choosing his religion. Perhaps Islam, although it is the last of the scriptural religions, has given rights to the Muslim and non-Muslim person in his religion with a superlative ability to understand human society with its diversity and social and religious ties.. He says: “It is not upon you to guide them, but God is He wills », says:« the Hajok, say converted to Islam my face to God and student make and say to those who were given the book and the illiterate Ooslemtem the Oslmwa has guided if they turn away for he you communication and Allah is Seer of His slaves », says:« your religion for me my religion », he says in many sites of the Koran God guides whom He wills, for Islam gives man the right to think and reason about himself, and obliges him to strive for that, and bear the result of his work and his choices “there is no compulsion in religion.”

He said: How do the extremists now expiate everyone who is not following Islam?

I said: My son, the linguistic meaning of disbelief is disbelief and disagreement, but extremists in thought have transformed the meaning in the minds of the common people into what means entering Hell and a miserable fate, but rather punishment for mere disagreement in this world and in the Hereafter. The Muslims on earth are less than a third of its population, so how by God do we throw someone who does good work, produces good, and deals in goodness in Hell, just because he differs with us in religion?.. Religion is a transaction, and the essence of religions is one, and that is good morals, and even some non-Biblical religions have what is beautiful. In the transaction and other designations of the Creator.

He said: Give me another example.

I said: What do you think about the rights of the family as an implicit entry to respect the elderly and children.

My reading says that Islam has given the family and parents rights in particular that lies in their application of all the foundations of mercy, love and respect. It gives society an entrance to respect the elderly and the elderly and prohibits mistreatment of children and newborns.. All of which we are proud of achieving in contemporary civilization.. Note that the Qur’an has mentioned these rights since Thousands of years, as general principles that preserve man’s right to a dignified life.. whether a child or an elderly person, a child or a child. The family is the one who holds today what the human species built in its past, and it is what leads tomorrow to its future, era after era and generation after generation.

God Almighty says: “And it is He who created man from water, and He made him blood and kinship, and your Lord is mighty.”

And he says: “Come, I will recite what your Lord has forbidden to you, that you should not associate anything with Him, and be kind to parents.”

He says: «He spent your Lord not none but Him and dutiful to your parents either they reach old age you have one or both of them, do not say F is not Tnehrhma and say two words gracious and lower wing of the humiliation of mercy, and say the Lord has decreed that you worship none small».

He says: “Those who killed their children foolishly without knowledge have lost.”

He says: “And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and you.”

The young man said: Come with me for women’s rights, for I see, like other youth of my generation, that women are underestimated in our religion, and finally, the tone of accusing women returns even if she is violating or harassing her.

I said: Women are underestimated by patriarchal interpretations, the lack of law enforcement, and not by the philosophy of religion.

Islam did not degrade the woman’s status in any aspect of her public life or her domestic life, but rather raised her from the level she had fallen to in previous civilizations and the beliefs of nations that were affected by those civilizations before the advent of Islam. And all of them were not satisfactory to the woman and do not hold her in final respect.

The Bedouin life in the Arab pre-Islamic era gave women some freedom because they were watering, grazing and extracting food, but the same livelihood desired fathers for the offspring of sons and despised them in the offspring of daughters, and it was common to kill girls after their birth out of shame out of shame.

And women in the European Dark Ages were a second-class creature, truly lost

Waha and subordinate to the man, she is treated badly and sometimes brutally.

And the Noble Qur’an comes to say, Almighty God: “And they have the same as they do with kindness.”

And he says: “Men are the guardians of women, by what God has given some of them over others, and by what they expend of money”, and the preference and knowledge here of the woman and their families.

And the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, said: “The unmarried woman does not marry until she is asked, and the virgin is not married until she is given permission.”

And God Almighty says in His clear verses: “And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He made a living within me.”

Likewise, the religion does not know the inherited or transmitted sin, so no one will be held accountable for the sin of another, even if he is his father. The Almighty says in the surahs of Fatir, Al-An’am and Al-Zumar: A man with a bird upon his neck we have forced upon him.”

And he says: “Everyone is due to what he has earned.”

In the end, we may decide that human rights as an individual and as a family have been preserved according to my understanding. Rather, we can say that the philosophy of Islam is for recognized rights and not practical plans for the balance of power in societies as happened in the development of mankind.

The young man said: What about the ruling system?

I said: The only recommendation for governance systems is that it be based on shura, leaving us to choose the method and method that achieves the peoples’ participation in governing themselves.

But your question is about a right. We cannot neglect to say that human rights and freedom, which the Noble Qur’an clearly affirms, have been neglected by most Muslims. There was confusion between the behavior of individuals who do not respect the freedom of others, and who want to impose their identity on others or dictatorial governments, and before them the royal caliphs who They bequeathed power to their children, and they did not leave the caliphate and rule except through coups, conquest or death without accountability, immunizing themselves with religion.

This, my son, is the confusion that we want to remove from our minds to clear the vision about the position of religion on these basic human rights as a philosophical and principled position that is linked only to the belief in the equality and freedom of human beings.
