“Dr. Hossam Badrawi, Icon of a Homeland\u201d is the title of the symposium that was held yesterday, June 6, 2023, at the National Foundation for Family and Community Development, within the series \u201cStandards of the Beautiful Time at the Arab Narrative Forum\u201d sponsored by the great critic Dr. Hossam Akl (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Narrative Forum) and the writer Azza Ezz El-Din ( Secretary General of the Forum), where the writer and thinker Prof. Dr. Hossam Badrawi was the guest of the symposium to shed light on his cultural, scientific and social career and to get acquainted with one of his most prominent cultural books, which is the book \u201cAn Invitation to Think\u201d
\nThe symposium began with a kind word from Professor Azza Ezz El-Din about the beginning of her acquaintance with Dr. Hossam Badrawi and the affection and respect she felt in his dealings with others, then she asked him to introduce himself and how this unique personality was formed that excelled in many fields
\nDr. Hossam started his speech from the introduction to his distinguished book \u201cMe and Memes\u201d, indicating at the beginning that his personality was influenced by many personalities who left imprints that helped shape his conscience. The most prominent of these personalities were Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib – Imam Muhammad Abdo – Khaled Muhammad Khaled – Al-Akkad – and Taha Hussein – And Gibran Khalil Gibran – and Ihsan Abdel Quddous – and Zaki Naguib Mahmoud, then he talked about the charming city of Mansoura and how it affected him with its picturesque nature, passing through the role of women who he sees as the origin of life and how she formed a very important part in his formation, referring to his article published in Al-Masry Al-Youm, Me and Seven Sixes, He also talked about his father, saying, \u201cHe is the source of justice in my heart.\u201d
\nAnd when asked about how to achieve a balance between his various areas of interest and what he prefers among these areas .. His answer was better because I am a university professor, as this constituted an introduction to the issue of education and from it to politics, then Dr. Hossam answered his question about the philosophy of the constitution, explaining that he is a social liberal who differentiates between rights (such as education and health) that must be obtained without distinguishing between the rich and the poor in justice and without discrimination and between the service that is performed in return. Influencing the political situation in Egypt Dr. Badrawi chose to adopt the philosophy of change from within, while others chose the direction of influence from the outside. He explained that both directions are necessary and equal in influence.
\nThen Dr. Hossam Akl presented his critical vision of the book d. Badrawi is an \u201cinvitation to think,\u201d where he indicated that Dr. Badrawi is far above being a politician, and that he is seen as one of the most important thinkers of this country, comprehensive, integrated, and reconciled with himself and his country. The book dealt with various aspects of life, but it expresses the writer’s enlightenment philosophy, his broad culture, and his human communication with the youth through his wonderful and inspiring dialogues in politics and religion, especially about human values and dialogues between generations. Dr. Badrawi’s mind, and explained that the style of d. Badrawi\u2019s discourse and the idea of the Dreamers\u2019 Caf\u00e9 are similar to Imam Al-Afghani\u2019s, as most of his lectures were delivered from the Matatea coffeehouse. He also reported that Dr. Badrawi always addresses his speech to the public with simple propositions despite the complex content of the meanings. He made it clear that he strongly supports this, and added that Dr. Badrawi does not seek to create confusion. To lead the scene, but the lines of his book provide real enlightenment.
\nHe said that the writer was impartial in presenting ideas and was very careful, and if he found something negative in the book, he would have been the first to refer to it. Finally, Dr. Hossam Akl ended his speech by saying that he believes that this book is fit to be a roadmap for a better future, then he ended his speech with applause from the audience.
\nThen the attendees asked Dr. Badrawi questions about his political past and his reformist views, amid great happiness from the attendees and approval of the wide cultural wealth that this meeting contained.
