They Are Driven, While We Have Free Will<\/strong><\/p>\n

In human understanding, life is the opposite of death. Life is considered a condition that distinguishes all living organisms \u2014 even microscopic ones \u2014 from non-living things. A living being is characterized by its ability to live and grow through reproduction and metabolism (metabolism refers to the totality of building and breakdown processes in the cell), ensuring the continuity of its biological species and its ability to adapt to its environment through physical \u2014 and sometimes genetic \u2014 changes.<\/p>\n

A broad look at the Earth\u2019s surface reveals an enormous diversity of life forms and structures. Some definitions of life even include the condition of being able to reproduce and undergo adaptive modifications.<\/p>\n

(Some philosophers place enormous emphasis on the sexual drive in humans and animals, considering it the central pillar upon which the life of individuals and communities revolves. They even regard it as the sole foundation around which all life revolves \u2014 especially human life. Therefore, sex becomes the key to human behavior, and all human actions can be explained from A to Z based on it.)<\/p>\n

In my research into the behavior of extremists \u2014 from ISIS, Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda, and certain members of the Muslim Brotherhood, to many clerics and even some modern-looking individuals around us \u2014 I ask:<\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t it strange that women and sex<\/strong> are used as temptations in promises of paradise, while on earth, women are subjected to violence, intimidation, and erasure \u2014 all because they \u201ctempt men\u201d? As if God created the world just for them!<\/p>\n

They treat a woman\u2019s hair as a curse and her presence as a menace \u2014 unless she\u2019s exclusively allocated for their pleasure. The entire issue seems to revolve around a fight over sex<\/strong>, represented by the woman \u2014 ownership of her, access to her, and control of her.<\/p>\n

Yet science tells us that a man<\/strong> can also be seductive and tempting to women with his body, looks, or words. So why don\u2019t we hide men, cover them up, and restrict them the way we do women?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s male-centric thinking<\/strong> \u2014 an admission of men\u2019s animalistic nature, where merely seeing a woman is enough to lose control of their desires. The sad truth is that sex drives them<\/strong>, and they have no interest in cultivating their prefrontal cortex<\/strong> \u2014 the brain\u2019s outer shell that allows humans to control impulses, respect others’ boundaries, and behave respectfully toward women \u2014 not because they don\u2019t see them, but because they are civilized and acknowledge women as equals in rights and life.<\/p>\n

The cerebral cortex<\/strong> is the largest part of the brain, containing 14 to 16 billion neurons. It plays a role in the brain\u2019s most important processes \u2014 memory, learning, thinking, problem-solving, emotions, perception, and awareness.<\/p>\n

Why don\u2019t you steal when you want to? Why don\u2019t you assault others or have sex on the street like animals? It\u2019s because of your ability to control your urges<\/strong> when your values are deeply rooted \u2014 helping you recognize your limits and respect others.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what defines a respectable human<\/strong> \u2014 not a wild animal leaping at every woman who walks by. But instead of training and refining themselves, some men take the easy way out: covering up women, keeping them at home, and banning them from public life \u2014 a clear admission of their own primitive instincts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The truth is: the sexual drive for reproduction<\/strong> exists in all animals. So what sets humans apart?<\/p>\n

What sets us apart is the mind<\/strong> God gave us \u2014 the ability to choose<\/strong>, to restrain our desires<\/strong>, to respect others’ freedoms and human relationships, such as marriage, fatherhood, and brotherhood. We also abide by the laws we collectively agree upon to govern our interactions.<\/p>\n

What makes sex among humans<\/strong> different from raw animalistic desire is simply this:<\/p>\n

He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court.
