{"id":12717,"date":"2025-08-07T21:19:44","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T19:19:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hossambadrawi.com\/en\/?p=12717"},"modified":"2025-08-11T21:20:55","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T19:20:55","slug":"tuesday-by-hossam-badrawi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hossambadrawi.com\/en\/tuesday-by-hossam-badrawi\/","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday By Hossam Badrawi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tuesday<\/strong><br \/>\nBy<br \/>\nHossam Badrawi<\/p>\n<p>Have you heard of the \u201cThree Days of the Week\u201d theory for birth order in families?<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a popular notion\u2014no PhD required\u2014but one confirmed by thousands of households and countless funny stories and family squabbles told over breakfast, lunch, and even at funerals.<\/p>\n<p>They say:<\/p>\n<p>The first child is <strong>Saturday<\/strong>\u2014the day of ambitious beginnings, fresh notebooks, neatly ironed school uniforms, and pristine intentions.<br \/>\nHe\u2019s treated like the firstborn of newlyweds: the parenting books are opened for him, and the kitchen and TV remote are off-limits.<br \/>\nHe\u2019s the experiment, the first lab rat, the victim of \u201cparental ambition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The youngest child is <strong>Thursday<\/strong>\u2014soft, pampered, preceded by the smell of delicious food and ice cream, followed by cheerful \u201cWelcome\u201d songs.<br \/>\nEverything is allowed\u2026 because he came late, after discipline rules had been exhausted and punishments had turned into \u201cOh sweetheart, never mind, just don\u2019t do it again.\u201d<br \/>\nHe\u2019s the product of \u201cparental nostalgia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the middle child\u2026 is <strong>Tuesday<\/strong>.<br \/>\nWhat can we say about this poor day?<br \/>\nIt\u2019s neither a beginning nor an ending. No fresh agendas, no holiday in sight.<br \/>\nIt comes after the \u201cwake-up from Saturday\u2019s illusion\u201d and before the \u201cdream of Thursday.\u201d<br \/>\nIt\u2019s the day mentioned only when searching for the least inspiring one.<\/p>\n<p>If you are Tuesday in our family\u2026 what a fate!<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re neither \u201cthe first on whom dreams were hung\u201d nor \u201cthe last carried asleep on shoulders without waking.\u201d<br \/>\nYou\u2019re the one forgotten at the club, missing from family photos, always asked:<br \/>\n\u201cDid you do your homework?\u201d<br \/>\n\u2014when you\u2019ve already graduated from university.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll grow up without a solo photo in the living room.<br \/>\nAll the pictures are either of \u201cthe big boss\u201d or \u201cthe baby who turned our lives into paradise.\u201d<br \/>\nAnd you? You\u2019re either blurred in the background or half-cropped out.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be the first to wear the hand-me-downs from the one before you,<br \/>\nand the first to be blamed when something breaks:<br \/>\n\u201cIt must have been you, because the eldest is responsible and the youngest is still innocent!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And yet, you should love being Tuesday.<br \/>\nYes, it\u2019s a dull day\u2014but it has room for peace.<br \/>\nNo one expects great achievements from you, and no holiday burdens you\u2014yet you\u2019ll often achieve them regardless.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the day of simplicity, stability, and keeping a low profile\u2014so you get what you want without the fuss.<br \/>\nYou\u2019re the Tuesday child,<br \/>\nand while you don\u2019t sing on stage like Thursday,<br \/>\nnor address the crowds like Saturday,<br \/>\nyou quietly carry the world on your shoulders\u2026 and no one notices.<\/p>\n<p>I was born on September 1, 1951\u2014a Saturday\u2014but in birth order, I\u2019m Thursday, because I\u2019m the youngest. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court.
