Al Bawaba News: Badrawi: The Sadat period witnessed radical changes in Egypt

Dr. Hossam Badrawi said, “History is not black and white, and I am interested in having a scientific method, in order to learn from history,” adding that the late President Mohamed Anwar Sadat was exceptional.

Badrawi added, in his speech about “Sadat the politician versus Sadat the man of imagination.” As a politician, he thought in a different way, as he moved from being a weak president in front of him with an indomitable force, and he also put forward a global political initiative with the enemy at the time of Egypt despite its shattered victory economically”.

Badrawi continued, “The real politician is capable of dynamic thinking, and Sadat had the courage, initiative, and desire for change. He was a politician with a wild imagination, which made him go outside the rigid framework, and he also had an artistic tendency other than the national anthem to carry different connotations.”

He pointed out that Sadat’s decision to open the economy to the world, “I do not blame him, and in 1979 I was preparing a doctorate in the United States, people were standing up for us to greet us.”
