Dr. Hossam Badrawi, the honorary chairman of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC), participated in the activities of the Egyptian Forum for Youth Employment Promotion (EGYPT- YEP).
The Forum is organized by the National Competitiveness Council in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Trade and Industry, aiming at laying foundations for evidence-based policies in the technical education and vocational training sector. Dr. Badrawi chaired the conference sessions which began with an opening speech on how it is important that the forum comes out with tangible results and recommendations that can be applied based on scientific evidence.
During the forum, groups of experts were organized in separate workshops to develop the conference recommendations of which the most prominent were policies to support the development of technical education as an entry point for youth employment and provision of skilled professionals supporting industry and exports, working to provide technical schools, involvement of the private sector to provide opportunities to train students, and assigning merit certificates as an assessment of professionals’ grades.
At the closing session, Governor of Beni Suef, Eng. Sherif Habib, spoke about his experience in developing education in the governorate. He also presented some projects that the governorate undertakes, such as Tqweem “Evaluation” project, which is an electronic system to test students electronically. It provides a database which the governorate can use to raise the efficiency of education.
Dr. Badrawi held the session and opened the door for discussion with the audience who expressed their ideas, opinions and perceptions about the future of education, especially technical education in Egypt.
